A proud Eden Prairie resident along with her husband of 34 years, John and their son Jacob, Joan is fully invested in our community. As a community leader Joan has worked hard to make sure everybody in our community is treated equally. Helping organize to defeat the 2012 amendment banning same sex marriage as well as to pass the Safe and Supportive School legislation in 2014, Joan has demonstrated the leadership and empathy to represent Senate District 48.
Additionally, Joan has long been active in her church, Pax Christi Catholic Community. As a cantor and lector she is a visible presence in the community and has also served on the worship council and in the ministry of Lay Liturgical Preaching. Joan also is a member of the planning committee for the Annual Eden Prairie Interfaith Thanksgiving celebration.
Professionally Joan has a master’s degree in Human Development from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and is a substitute high school English teacher. Her educational background included classes in ethics and leadership development, communication strategies, conflict resolution and organizational leadership.
Joan’s professional experience and long track record of bringing the community together is exactly the kind of leadership that’s sorely missing in St. Paul.
